Student Leadership Retreat

The students travelled in the evening on Friday night after the L.A. traffic disippated somewhat.  We enjoyed clear skies (oh, the stars!), cool breezes and good fellowship.  We had a full day on Saturday with a prayer hike, visioning, planning, recreation, and great food (thanks to Tanya!).  Daniel Looking towards Lake Arrowhead Aaron and Masha Finley on SUP's for First Time The students on the team are in the process of earning Ph.D.'s in physics, bioengineering, electrical engineering and philosphy.  One of our students is earning a masters degree in engineering.  For these hard working young adults, not only did they get the much-needed rest and relaxation they needed but it gave them the opportunity to prayerfully consider how to engage the new school year with more intentionality and focus for the Graduate Christian Fellowship. West Coast Faculty Conference

I had the privilege of directing our Soul Care Team which included many qualified, mature Christian leaders who met with individual appointees throughout the week.  We conducted our spiritual direction appointments at the Dallas Willard House and enjoyed Jane Willard (his wife) as part of our team.  There were many faculty and spouses who availed themselves of this opportunity and God met each and every person powerfully. Family Camp

During our week at camp we enjoyed many activities for people of all ages.  Each of the boys had programs and recreational opportunities for their ages.  The adults enjoyed daily study of 2 Timothy together as an entire group, good food, games, and new friends. Midweek, we hiked from the camp to Avalon.  It was a steep climb but we all made it. Top of the hill Looking back to camp Harbor at Avalon The boys showing their fatigue. Looking from the main meeting room Enjoying a beautiful evening Looking at camp from the pier We all enjoyed the activities in the water.  There were stand-up-paddleboards, kayaks, snorkling, swimming, fishing, etc.  Because of Hollywood, there are bison on the island in addition to a lot of other wildlife including foxes, bald eagles, deer, and so much more.  The boys really want to go again next summer.
